        北京奥组委执行副主席蒋效愚19日在回答记者提问时表示，最近在西藏发生的事件不会影响北京奥运会火炬接力活动的顺利进行。

        北京奥组委执行副主席蒋效愚在本周三的新闻发布会上说：“目前，拉萨已经基本恢复了正常秩序，西藏自治区政府会努力维护当地的稳定并确保跨过世界之巅的火炬传递活动顺利进行。”

        Torch relay 就是“火炬接力、火炬传递”的意思，relay在体育比赛中指“接力”，比如relay race 就是“接力赛跑”；另外，relay还有“中转、转播”等意思。
