Today I would like to talk about a family member who I am proud of, my father. He is the role model in my life. He is 58 years old this year and was born and raised in Lixi, a small city in eastern China. He started from scratch but has now become a successful businessman, running a private company in my hometown.
When I was a child, I didn't see my father very often. He was always busy with work, leaving home in the morning when I was still sleeping and coming back late at night. There was a time when I doubted if I had a father. Nowadays, he is still busy, but at least I can see him during dinner.
My father was born into a poor family. My grandparents were farmers and they struggled to make ends meet. My father started working at a young age. Before him, there were only two options, either be a farmer like his parents or leave to find a better future. So he left his hometown at the age of 17. From then on, he worked day and night, never giving up any opportunities. Many years later, he succeeded. Because of his hard work and sacrifice, my family has a good life.
I love my dad. He is hardworking and intelligent. In my country, it is not easy to succeed. Although he never talks about it, he must have sacrificed a lot for our family. I am proud of him. He is my hero and the best father in the world.
1. What vegetables are common in your country?
In my country, tomatoes and potatoes are the most popular vegetables. I think they are so popular because they are both delicious and versatile. They make great side dishes and can be used in many different ways, which is something my fellow countrymen appreciate. They are also important for maintaining good health and body as they are rich in essential vitamins and minerals. Additionally, they are produced in large quantities in my country, which makes them quite affordable for any household.
2. Do people like to grow vegetables in your country?
Well, I believe there are more people who grow vegetables than those who don't because there are quite a lot of my compatriots who engage in vegetable cultivation. I think the reasons are mainly the following: firstly, people want to have access to healthy, fresh produce and not worry about food safety issues. By eating vegetables they grow themselves, they can ensure that there are no pesticides and that there are more vitamins and nutrients. Moreover, they can enjoy better taste and aroma. Secondly, growing their own vegetables can save them money on grocery shopping, which is also a reason why people want to have a small vegetable garden. Of course, there are also plenty of people in my country who do not enjoy growing their own food as it requires a lot of time and effort working in the garden.
3. How do people feel when they eat vegetables that they grew on their own?
Oh, I think they would first feel proud of their efforts paying off. I also believe they would feel confident knowing that they and their family are eating healthy, fresh produce. Oh, and of course, they would be happy about saving some money at the grocery store.
