　　A: Hey, what are you busy doing?

　　B: Actually, I am going to apply for a new seat . Do you have any idea about redecoration?

　　A: There are some materials that have great use, like decorative glass, artificial marble.

　　B: Wow, these things are cool.

　　A: Yeah, just like Building A. It uses a lot local materials to build up.

　　B: That is my dormitory. It is said that it will also use waterproof materials on the roof. Will they use in this time?

　　A: No. It will be used in the next term. So, do you want to apply for a job as a house master?

　　B: Yes, are there many people planning to do this?

　　A: A lot. The competition for this job is quite fierce. You need to submit an application, and then the officer will select the ones who can be invited for interview.

　　B: Not too bad. Is there any condition can give me priority to this job?

　　A：Of course yes, one is experience.

　　B: I have been lived here for two years.

　　A: To be an adviser, living experience is quite important. Have you ever dealt with the quarrel between students?

　　B: I have mediated successfully one time. My roommates were temperamentally incompatible and always quarreled. Finally, I came out to pour oil on troubled waters and helped them to coordinate the schedule, which made our room more peaceful than before. 　　Lecture 1

　　Today let's talk about conformity. Conformity means correspondence or likeness in form or appearance, congruity, agreement. It is said that everyone own the trend of , what we say, crowd psychology. In the research, people always ignore the fact and say that he or she is special and never affected by others and environment. There is an experiment to show conformity. Participants are given two cards--one has a long line, and the other has two short lines and one long line--and let them to choose one line of the second card which is as long as the one of the first card. First, the participant enter a room which is filled with people. He thinks that these people come here for testing as well. So he sits at the back row and answers correctly. Others also choose the right answer. Second, in the same environment, when it comes to choose answer, the participants finds out that others choose the same answer which is different from his. Finally, he changes his answer as same as others'. After counting, nearly 75 percent of people own the same result. Actually, expect the participant, the people in the room are not for testing; they are actors.

　　Boy: So do they choose the wrong answer on purpose?

　　P: Yes.

　　Girl: But, it is an obvious question.

　　P: Yes, that is it.

　　Boy: It is only the test result. Does this phenomenon happen in real life?

　　P: Actually yes. Just like your haircut and your clothes, these are all influenced by the environment. You just have not realized it yet.

　　Lecture 2

　　Listen to part of the lecture in the Geology class.

　　Today let's talk about the underlying structure of the earth surface. The earth is composed by crust, mantle, and core. Crust is easy to study since we can see and feel it directly. And crust can also affect the wave propagation. But under the mantle, it is a different story, because with the increasing depth, pressure and temperature change as will. Under this condition, many strange phenomenon appear. Take water as an example. In the place far away from the surface, if pressure achieves a certain level, water will ice even at the temperature over the boiling point. Then scientists invented a method named MLC to simulate the underground condition, so that they can analyze the condition of the boundary between the core and the mantle. It works in this way. They press two tiny silica pieces together. Since their contact surfaces are quite small, the pressure is quite tremendous, which bring high intensity of pressure. Then heat them to high temperature, which imitate the underground environment successfully. The substances there own high density, and their structures are like diamonds.
