　　1、Describe an important friend in your childhood, explain why he/she was important to you.

　　2、Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: people's personalities change as they grow older.

　　3、R: I think the university should get rid of the food carts on the campus. Most students would throw away the garbage on the campus after buying the fast food, which made our campus dirtier. Also, the food they sell are mainly junk food, which are bad for students' health.

　　L: W: Read this announcement? M: Yeah. W: I think this is ridiculous. M: The students do litter everywhere. W: But the carts should not be blamed. And the garbage issue is easy to deal with if only we put more trash cans on the campus. M: Oh, but the food they sell is unhealthy, that's right, huh? W: Actually no, they do sell healthy food such as fruit and juice except junk food like pizza and hot dog. And I will concentrate better in class after eating the food since I'm not hungry anymore. M: Oh, I haven't thought about that.

　　4、R: Sometimes animals can change their location without using physical efforts. It means that they can move with the help of natural power and save energy. That is called passive locomotion.

　　L: Let's take spider as an example. As we all know spiders can move by walking or jumping, but that won't let them go far. And sometimes spiders will use winds to help them move. They can weave a net on the top of the tree. In this way, the wind will carry them and give them a free ride while they are attached to the net.

　　5、W: Hey John, is everything going ok? M: Actually no. W: What's the problem? M: OK… I am required to write a short paper about poem and I have found an exciting poem and think it would be great for the paper. W: That's perfect, right? M: But the problem is, I went to have dinner with a bunch of friends and it is a little late. And the library closed earlier on Sunday, but the deadline is tomorrow. I don't know what to do. W: Maybe you can write another poem that fits the topic. M: I don't know, but that won't make the paper so amazing. W: Ok… Then you can get up early and wait till the library opens. You still have several hours left in the morning, right? M: Yeah, that might be a good idea.

　　6、L: Today let's talk about two strategies that will make students to obey the rules. The first strategy is to tell them your purpose, to let them understand why they should do this. For example, students in my class were asked not to eat snacks in the classrooms when I taught in elementary school. I told the students that the snacks would make the classrooms unclean and attract unpleasant insects, which would damage their books. After that, the students no longer ate snacks in the classroom. The second strategy is to ask them to make a commitment. I once made a poster in order to make the students obey the rule. I told them to sign their name on the poster to promise that they would never eat snacks in the classroom. In this way, they knew they were responsible for not eating the snacks in class.
